Meet Diesel

Diesel is one of those sad cliches of a family who got a puppy just before Christmas, and 8 months later, as he grew into a big dog (Rhodesian Ridgeback x Bull Arab maybe?) they surrendered him. He was rescued from Hawkesbury Animal Shelter by a foster family who are working on his manners and toilet training. He is now going to the toilet on command, and no accidents inside the house, not even during the night anymore. He is a very good boy. He has learned many new commands such as sit, wait, toilet, timeout and stop.

He was a yard dog, left to his own devices to live under the house, but now loves being inside and has two children (age 8 and 10) and another dog (age 6) to play with. He is a large dog, but has a very gentle manner. He is quite boisterous, and if rehomed with another dog, you may need to consider separating them for a while as he wants to play continuously. Our other dog is 6, and so we keep them apart when we are not home to give her a rest. He is happy in the backyard, while she stays indoors until we get home.
Diesel is gorgeous and will be a perfect pet for a loving family. He is a gentle giant, no aggression at all and he doesn't really bark except in play to get attention. There was an initial issue with food sharing, but he has learned that there is enough for everyone, and he and our other dog now eat from the same bowl without issues.

With his humans, he has a soft mouth at all times, he has massive paws and he loves to nuzzle. He will try to climb into your lap in the evening, he is a giant baby. He enjoys walks and is pretty good on the lead but very strong - still some training required here. We have had him off-lead on bush walks and he stays pretty close-by, and returns when called.

He's a typical puppy, and interested in everything, but understands "no" and a loud clap stops him misbehaving. He wants to please, and loves being rewarded with a belly rub for good behaviour. He has a selection of dog toys to chew and he loves to play with them. He often destroys his toys but we have had no issue with any other destruction of our things. He understands what is "his" and what is off limits.

He is smart but like any young dog he needs stimulation - walks, toys or company either human or dog. He is also very comical when he sees his reflection, and watching him drink from the hose provides a lot of laughter.

Diesel deserves a loving home, with or without children and will be happy with another dog to play with, or as an only dog. He is young, fun and adorable.

He was born in October 2016, currently 9 months old, recently desexed and up to date on all vaccinations, worming and flea treatments and he is available for adoption now.

Diesel was adopted on 06 August 2017 after 1 month in foster care
